The ProtocolBureau

In the year 1995
The Protocolbureau was established by students of the The Hague Hotel Management School in 1995. Their motive was the need to gain experience in hospitality up to the highest level. They did so by organizing lectures and working as hosts at (business) meetings. The first lecture was delivered by the former Master of Ceremonies of Her Majesty the Queen, and the first assignment was to present the Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Awards.

A successful and relaxed meeting
The Protocolbureau specialises in extending hospitality to important relations: Ambassadors, Ministers, CEOs, sponsors or merger partners in view. The aim is to surround them with excellent hosting, from invitation to send-off.

Protocol in the 21st century
The European monarchies have used protocol to direct meetings with relations into good channels for centuries. However, particularly in the Netherlands, protocol is subject to misunderstandings. Protocol is not meant to formalise a meeting unnecessarily. It is in essence a sophisticated method to manage attention quietly. In that sense, protocol is still rendering good service in the 21st century, and in business as well. For attention is a scarce good. The more careful attention given to important relations is managed, the more likely it is that the meeting will be successful.
